Robin DiPasquale ND: Tree Medicine - Barks, Buds, and Beliefs

Robin DiPasquale ND: Tree Medicine - Barks, Buds, and Beliefs

When: Wednesday, May 25th, 2011, 6pm PST

Where: MedicineCrow Webcast Page

The trees, “The Ancient Ones,” have much to teach us.  Their medicine is old, from the times that have been, and their medicine is new, in the form of gemmotherapy.  This class will focus on the healing medicine of trees, weaving the knowledge and understanding of wisdom from historic lore and legend, from herbal traditions through the ages, and from what we are continuing to unfold in contemporary time.

Commonly practiced in European countries, especially France, Belgium, and Italy, gemmotherapy is a form of herbal medicine that uses extracts made from the buds of the plants, especially the trees.  In this way, the growth potential of the plant, its growth hormones and enzymes, and its deep regenerative and restorative properties, can be applied to healing practices.

Some key trees to be discussed in this class are:

  • Oak (Quercus robur)
  • Hawthorn (Crataegus oxycantha)
  • Linden (Tilia tomentosa)
  • White Willow (Salix alba)
  • Birch (Betula spp)
  • Elm (Ulmus campestris)
  • Fig (Ficus carica)
  • Sweet Chestnut (Castanea vesca)
  • Olive (Olea europea)
  • Hazel (Corylus avellana)
  • Ash (Fraxinus excelsior)
  • Walnut (Juglans regia)
