Mahdi Ibrahim: Frankincense Past, Present, and Future

Join David Crow and Mahdi Ibrahim for a wide-ranging discussion about the long and rich cultural history of the frankincense trees, their importance to local communities, and the complex political, economic and ecological factors that threaten their existence. As a descendant of a nomadic family of Somaliland, Mr. Ibrahim brings to Medicinecrow members a wealth of information and personal experiences, as well as his expertise as a researcher, essential oil distiller and social activist in this unique field. Of special importance in this interview will be Mr. Ibrahim's efforts to preserve this valuable botanical resource and to improve the quality of life in one of the world's poorest regions through its effective and sustainable management. For those who join on the webcast, the presentation will be accompanied with a spectacular slide show.
